  • Mildred Singleton (GaGa), age 91 of Pencil Bluff, AR, passed away September 11, 2017. She was born December 1, 1925 to the late John Thompson and Nettie Ledbetter Thompson in Pencil Bluff, AR. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Nettie Thompson, husband, Earshel Singleton, son, Robert Singleton, sisters, Panny James, Evelyn Beashears, and brothers Dick Tabor and Lee Tabor.

Mildred is survived by her son and his wife, Robin and Betty Singleton, grandchildren, Sabra Straw, Hannah and Jason Wilburn, great-grandchildren, Eden Singleton, Coby Wilburn, Jay Wilburn, Elija Wilburn, Jaycee Wilburn, Heaven Cagle, and Angel Cagle. Sister, Gerlene McKinzie, Nieces, Tammy Wingfield, Bonnie Norris, Barbara Hotchkin, nephews, Terry Bivins, Gary James, David James, Randy James, Gaylen Beashears, Keith Beashears, Russ Beashears, and a host of other family and friends.

Mildred will be remembered as a hard working woman who spent countless hours in her kitchen making the best tasting green beans along with fried peach pies, huckleberry pies, and pecan pies.  She never took time to sit, but worked tirelessly making and quilting numerous beautiful quilts, tending to her strawberry patch, gathering wild huckleberries, picking black walnuts, and keeping her home neat as a pin.  But her work did not stop there; she spent many hours cleaning the Macedonia Cemetery, doing yard work that included planting beautiful flowers around the home and down the road to the mail boxes.  She took the time to replant flowers from her parents’ home place into her yard.  She enjoyed the outdoors, watching the birds eating in her front yard, seeing the humming birds come to the humming bird feeders, watching the animals on the farm, (newborn calves, kittens, and puppies).  She loved her family and was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an example for all to see because of her work ethic, love of cooking, the numerous photographs taken throughout her life, and her compassion and love for animals.

Visitation will be Thursday September 14, 2017 6-8 pm at Thornton Funeral Home. Services will be Friday September 15, 2017 10:00 am at Church Of Christ in Pencil Bluff, AR with Bro.
